#35 - Miami Vice Theme - Jan Hammer

Yesterday’s song sounded like it belonged on a 1980’s soundtrack, today’s really was. Rising to number one on Billboard Top Pop albums, the Miami Vice Soundtrack eventually earned quadruple platinum status by selling over 4 million copies. Both sides of the album opened with a version of this song, so you heard it a lot.

I can’t listen to this song without envisioning flamingos, jai alai and women in bikinis. It reminds of Friday nights rushing home and my dad hooking up the TV to the stereo and all of us watching the show.

It doesn’t get more 80’s than Jan Hammer’s “Miami Vice Theme”.
