Roy Orbison and Friend: A Black and White Night was a concert from 1987 recorded for Cinemax shot entirely in black and white. Roy Orbison was backed by stellar musicians including Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, Tom Wait, Mike Utley, Lyle Lovett, J. D. Souther, Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, and k.d. lang. Roy Orbison died about a year after recording the concert. It is now available on DVD, Blu-Ray, streaming, etc. You have no excuse for not watching it. It is outstanding.
“Running Scared” has always been one of my favorite Roy Orbison songs. What a voice.
